On kid #1 we used the books on a daily basis. On kid #2 we checked the books a couple times a month. On kid #3 I don't know where the books even are. Each of the kids are entirely different, so what we learned about each kid isn't helping us much with the next kid. The main thing we learned is to just do what works for you.
This will all be a memory before you know it. I swear! If it makes you feel any better, both my kids slept in their car seats and swings too. And I worried too. Now I look back and think I shouldn't have worried...at all. Whatever works to get you some peace to take care of yourself; that's what matters right now. And baby will be fine.
My great experience with motherhood comes from my cousin's baby doing the exact same thing. I walked the baby in circles and rocked her back and forth and we all took turns.
Put the baby where the baby will sleep. If the baby ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Then go out and have that cig with a big slug of joe. Naw, just take a nap. :)
AH I remember the days. Now mine will be 3 in about 6 weeks. This is the best time! he is learning imaginitive play. I can sit and watch him play by himself for hours. Sometimes he brings a toy to me to hold while he holds another one and creates and entire dialogue for both! Just hold out it gets better.
I just found your blog and think that you are hysterically accurate about motherhood. Your pictures capture it all perfectly! Thank you for making me laugh. You should write a book - seriously.

I LOVE your blog!
The cartoons are great and the captions are even better!
I definitely know how it feels to want a cigarette!
